Project Architect with + 10 years’ experience in Multi-family Residential / Mixed-Use Residential Projects. Revit proficiency in the Design and Production of Construction Documents is preferred.
CPA Architecture is looking for a Senior Project Designer / Architect with experience in Multifamily Residential / Mixed-Use Buildings to assist the firm with the Design Development and Construction Documentation for the aforementioned project type.
Candidate's Responsibilities:
• 10 years + experience in high-quality design projects of Multifamily Residential and Mixed-Use buildings.
• Oversee Initial TestFitting, Schematic Design, Zoning and Planning and Redevelopment Plans.
• Oversee Client Relationships
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets & allocation of hours.
• Coordinate with internal teams and clients to ensure alignment on project goals.
• Lead the creation of schematic designs, ensuring they meet client requirements and zoning regulations.
• Ensure that all design adhere to local zoning and building laws and regulations.
• Conduct Zoning analysis and site assessment to inform design decisions
• Present design concepts, Testfit, Pro Forma & Presentations.
• Coordination with Attorney, Planner, Traffic, Civil engineer, MEP & Structural engineers as well as any other
consultants involved in the project.
• Review design documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
• Implement processes for quality assurance throughout the design phase.
• Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Delegate task effectively and monitor team performance.
• Identity potential projects risks related to zoning issues.
• Monitor project costs and ensure the projects stay within budget.
• Prepare and submit required documentation for zoning applications.
• Work closely with Firm leadership, Project Managers and technical staff to support client relationships.
• Offsite meetings
• Strong organization skills of proposals, change orders, general scope and details.
• High level review of Architectural Design and code compliance.
• Monitor the project’s process.
• Management Processes, Standards, and Implementation.
• Internal and external communication with consultants for 3D Renderings.
• Coordinate renderings for presentations, meetings, or public hearings.
• Produce a set of comprehensive Schematic Documents independent from direct oversight from senior
staff. Direct junior staff at different stages of the design process.
• Understanding of the NJIBC, UCC, Accessibility requirements and applicable codes.
• Familiarity with 2-4 Family Homes, Mid-Rise, and High-Rise project Types.
Type R Occupancy Type requirements, Mixed-Use occupancy requirements and Construction Type
Requirements for Types I, II, III, & V. And building Envelope Energy Code Requirements.
• Work with DD, CD and CA teams throughout the various Phases to ensure consistency with Zoning
Approvals and RDPs as well as to create and foster a strong commitment to address ‘’lessons learned’’.
• Hand-off Report of all zoning requirements, conditions of approval and any client’s desires or wishes
discussed during SD’s
• Assist the firm with creating, implementing and constantly updating standards for the various phases.
Candidate's Qualifications:
• Knowledge of building codes, permitting processes & construction document production is required.
• Applicants must be proficient in Revit and AutoCAD. Higher proficiency in AutoCAD than Revit may be
acceptable with the condition of willingness to transition one’s skills into Revit. Software Savvy and tackling
new software learning curves quickly is to be expected of this individual.
• Commercial, Retail, Adaptive Re-use/Building Renovations, Education K-12, and Hospitality experience is
also desirable.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S without visa restrictions.
• Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited School of Architecture is required.
• Verbal and written communication skills must be Excellent.
• Proficiency with Sketchup or Autodesk Formit is desired.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign) is desired.
• Proficiency with Revit Plug-ins such as Enscape or Lumion for project Visualization is desired.
• Proficiency using Bluebeam, for internal review QA/QC, design team consultant coordination, and
presentations of project progress.
• Architect Registration (License) State of New Jersey is preferred. Actively pursuing License (AXP/ARE) is
expected.
• Ability to delegate and manage junior staff if required by the project.
• LEED accreditation is a plus but not required.
