Title: Sr. Electrical Engineer, Analog and Power Design
Location: Boston, MA or Goleta, CA
Location Details: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Duration: 6-12+ months
Must Have:
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of related industry experience.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering with over 12+ years direct experience also considered.
Extensive experience with Candence- circuit design/schematics tool
Hands-on experience with complete ownership of analog and power electronics design in a high-volume product.
Thorough understanding of efficient power designs including detailed analysis and magnetics specification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical guidance on electronic designs within a EE System team in Pro-Category
Enhance the excellence of Sonos products through research and prototyping of new technologies
Advance the simulation and test methodology of analog and power design
Develop and design analog circuit and power converter/amplifier/supply for audio products
Design custom magnetics for power amplifiers and power supplies
Ensure to meet all regulatory requirements including EMC, energy efficiency, and safety
Work cooperatively across disciplines in a fast-paced environment
Mentor junior engineers and lead EE design in a project
Minimum Qualification:
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of related industry experience.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering with over 13 years direct experience also considered
Hands-on experience with complete ownership of analog and power electronics design in a high volume product
Thorough understanding of efficient power designs including detailed analysis and magnetics specification
Knowledge and experience in power over Ethernet is highly desirable
Amplifiers for transducer or dynamic motor drive design experience is highly preferred
Knowledge of safety and compliance standards for consumer electronic devices
Exceptional trouble-shooting skills and system level technical knowledge.
Proven leadership skills including schedule management and mentoring/motivating team members and JDM EEs
Having worked across disciplines with mechanical engineering, radio engineering, acoustics engineering and other product development engineering teams including ID, UX, packaging et al
Track record of thorough documentation, meeting and exceeding previously existing standards.
Technically inquisitive – must be able to take on new technical challenges and learn new technical skills on-the-fly and apply the knowledge to solve the issue at hand.
Ability to propose, set up, and execute validation testing plans with minimal guidance.
Well-developed reporting and communication skills, including the ability to explain and summarize complicated issues.
Nice to have:
Experience in digital circuit design (CPU, Memory, Ethernet, USB, HDMI, Digital audio, etc.)
Experience using audio test equipment (AP, Klippel, Clio, SoundCheck, etc.).
Experience using RF and/or EMC test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, Agilent or IQFlex WiFi analyzers).
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements and testing procedures
