About Vertex
Vertex is building AI powered supply chain infrastructure. We’re piloting with a $1B+ revenue publicly traded enterprise and have raised $2M in pre-seed funding.
Physical commerce is essential to life and security. The supply chains that power this commerce, experience increasing shocks and fragility. The most fundamental backbone of society is broken, and we’re on a mission to fix it. Our ambition is to power the resilient production of all physical goods - from rockets to packaged food.
Today, Vertex is a vendor intelligence layer that supercharges supplier / manufacturer negotiations with automated price comparisons and performance scorecard generation - enabling margin increases and time savings.
Our medium term roadmap will drive towards becoming an AI powered vendor “CRM” that arms sourcing teams with data and automations to discover, select, negotiate, and manage vendors.
Longer term, all supply chain workflows will sit under the Vertex umbrella as we build towards autonomous AI agents that observe, design, and orchestrate production.
The Team
Tina Jiang, Founder and CEO
Hey, I’m Tina. I have a deep background in supply chain as an early PM at Faire building products to enable wholesale commerce, a former founder of a factory <> brand marketplace at South Park Commons, and as a part of the founding team at Vial building infrastructure to produce drugs that cure disease. Most recently, I was the second PM at Material Security, where I built data products to detect attackers and protect sensitive data. I studied Symbolic Systems at Stanford, grew up in Brooklyn, and enjoy experimenting with food in my free time!
The Role
This is a high scope, high agency, in person (SF) role where you’ll get to join a startup on the ground floor. You’ll likely wear many hats, but your main responsibility will be to architect and build the initial product. You will be a critical part of the team - your salary and equity will reflect that. If you like to shape product and teams at the earliest stages, this is for you.
What you’ll do
- Build full stack product from the ground up to service initial pilot customers
- Work with Large Language Models to structure and normalize data
- Build integrations across email, ERPs, and external data feeds
- Engage with customers to make sure the product meets their needs
- Influence product direction and roadmap
- Set up foundational engineering culture
What you’re good at
- You know how to build from scratch
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity and change
- You’re curious and high slope
- You have a bias towards action, you’ll do what it takes to get things done
- You can make the necessary technical tradeoffs to balance quality and time
- You can think about product and design, not just engineering
- You’ve worked with significant amounts of data
- You’ve worked with LLMs, AI, etc.
