The National Health Service Core (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program is open to licensed primary care medical, dental, and mental and behavioral health providers who are employed by accredited sites.

Youth Development Specialist Pay Range:
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education and experience as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Salary: $18.92 - $23.64 DOE

Youth Development Specialist Summary: The Youth Development Specialist works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, providing supportive services which promote the youth’s abilities and developmental skills. Become a specialist that teaches youth specific skills, such as anger management skills, social skills, self-regulation skills, etc. within the youth’s service plan. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals to promote a strengths-based, client centered approach to assist youth in achieving individual goals.
Youth Development Specialist Education:Must meet State of Oregon (OARs) requirements and MHACBO certification as a "Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)," meeting the following minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field: or A combination of at least three years relevant work, education, training or experience.
Youth Development Specialist Experience:Experience to demonstrate the competencies to identify precipitating events:
- Previous experience working with youth (preferred)
Youth Development Specialist Responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic interventions with youth as required and directed by the service plan.
- Provide individual and/or group skill training, supervision, and support in areas such as self-care, social skills, community resources, stress and anger management, collaborative problem solving, and other life skills as directed by the plan of care.
- Attend and actively participate in clinical case consultations and staff meetings to gain knowledge and communicate program and youth needs.
- Assist in crisis situations as appropriate, following emergency protocols and procedures. Have the ability and be prepared to assist with avoidance preventing escalation and administering restraint techniques as defined in non-violent physical intervention training.
- Assist in meal set-up, preparation, serving, and clean up related to mealtimes or cooking group activities.
- Perform household chores, including but not limited to, light housekeeping and cleaning of biohazards.
- Accompany youth to and assist during medical appointments in the community.
- Demonstrate professional boundaries and ethics with youth, family members, coworkers, and community partners.
- Assist with admission and discharge planning, including completing all necessary paperwork.
- Document and maintain clinical records in a manner that assures compliance with all agency policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation as required, associated with assessment, treatment, youth progress and other activities.
- Demonstrate responsibility for safety of youth and property; including understanding emergency regulations and evacuation procedures.
- Coordinate with oncoming shift regarding youth concerns, building/program needs, and any relevant issues to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
- Provide medication administration and other medical tasks.
- Provide transportation service to support youth out in the community.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Valid Oregon driver’s license, insurable driving record. Personal automobile insurance is required if clients are transported or any agency business is conducted by the employee using his/her personal vehicle. Must meet the requirements to become MHACBO QMHA Certified. Certification must be maintained for the length of employment.
