Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to oversee and contribute to a variety of traffic engineering projects. This role will involve managing complex traffic studies, developing innovative solutions, and leading a team of professionals in enhancing transportation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage traffic engineering projects from conception through implementation, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct comprehensive traffic studies, including traffic flow analysis, signal design, and safety assessments.
- Develop and evaluate traffic models and simulations to improve transportation efficiency and safety.
- Prepare and review technical reports, design plans, and specifications.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to deliver effective and innovative traffic management solutions.
- Stay current with transportation engineering trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and support.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients, public agencies, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in traffic engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
- Expertise in traffic engineering software such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of traffic control devices, signal systems, and transportation planning principles.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
