Job Description
- Manages laboratory workflow: priority samples, instrument checks, R&D characterization, and manufacturing quality control.
- Maintains and operates nine laboratory analytical instruments, including, physisorption, chemisorption,X-Ray Diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and Laser Diffraction.
- Data analysis: creates new data comparisons for Pajarito products, maintains large data comparisons for specific clients, as well as conducts in-house comparisons for quality control purposes.
- Lead for purchasing new instrumentation: from researching appropriate instrumentation to installation.
- Method Development.
- Laboratory inventory: new instrumentation, instrument parts and accessories, chemicals, and consumables.
- Writes SOPs.
- Creates certificates of analysis (COAs) to report product characteristics to clients.
- Creates and maintains connections with instrument manufacturing companies (Micromeritics, PerkinElmer) for instrument troubleshooting collaboration.
- Shipping: bottles products to be shipped.
- Maintains lists of samples sent out to external labs.
Knowledge
Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
Analyzing Data or Information — Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards — Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
Public Safety and Security — Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
Job Requirements
- Minimum: BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar degree
- Extensive chemical safety knowledge
- Research experience in a laboratory setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Teams to plan, analyze and report on projects, experimental data, and logs
- Familiarity with methods of statistical quality control
- US Citizen
Additional Information/Requirements
Must be willing to relocate to and work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
