Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled GCP GKE Specialist for a critical contract role focused on a GKE Proof of Concept (POC) project. This role requires expertise in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), strong Python scripting skills, and a deep understanding of observability within GCP environments. The primary goal is to integrate GKE with GCP, implement infrastructure, and ensure comprehensive monitoring and logging by the end of December.
Key Responsibilities:
- GKE Integration and Implementation:
- Integrate GKE with GCP, including onboarding applications and implementing necessary infrastructure.
- Understand and manage network requirements for GKE and GCP integration.
- Observability and Monitoring:
- Implement observability solutions to monitor, trace, and log the health and performance of applications and infrastructure on GCP.
- Develop comprehensive monitoring and logging solutions using GCP Logging and Monitoring.
- Identify and create alerts based on thresholds to ensure timely responses to performance issues.
- Infrastructure Setup:
- Review and validate infrastructure and network setup for GCP and GKE.
- Ensure correct integration and configuration of applications with GKE.
- Log Management:
- Search and analyze logs for troubleshooting, anomaly detection, and ensuring proper log flow through GCP.
- Utilize tools and scripts to automate log management and analysis.
- Automation and Scripting:
- Automate GCP operations using Python, Shell scripting, and GCP SDKs or APIs.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
- Configuration Management and IaC:
- Utilize Terraform for infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and configuration management.
- Manage version control with Git and GitHub.
- CI/CD and Deployment:
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Google Cloud Build, Source Repositories, and Container Registry.
- Work with containers and orchestrate deployments using GKE.
- Cost Management:
- Optimize GCP resource usage and costs, provide cost estimates and reports, and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with development teams to support and architect application deployment strategies leveraging GCP services such as App Engine, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Run.
Required Qualifications:
- Certifications:
- Valid GCP certifications demonstrating expertise in Google Cloud technologies.
- Experience:
- Extensive hands-on experience with GKE and GCP core services.
- Proven track record in observability, monitoring, and logging in cloud environments.
- Strong experience with Python scripting and automation.
- Proficient in configuration management and IaC using Terraform.
- Experience with Git/GitHub, JavaScript, and Regular Expressions (RegEx).
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and understanding of cloud concepts (storage, compute, network).
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in searching and analyzing logs for troubleshooting and anomaly detection.
- Proficiency in developing technical documentation and maintaining runbooks.
- Experience with database management in GCP, such as BigTable, Cloud SQL, or Cloud Spanner.
- Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies.
