The Lane Construction Corporation is one of America’s leading construction companies, specializing in large, complex civil infrastructure. Lane also specializes in tunnels, metro and railway systems, as well as airports and water and wastewater treatment plants.
The Mechanical Supervisor acts as the central point of contact for all equipment support services for construction projects. They manage all equipment and equipment support personnel within a project such that reliable equipment is provided to efficiently and safely perform the project construction work.
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
· Confirm receipt of and provide completed new equipment specifications worksheet for all newly received equipment.
· Procure, monitor utilization, and manage short term rentals (<6 month duration).
· Develop relationship and utilize relationships with key dealer and vendor after-purchase service and support personnel.
· Responsible for overall working condition, productivity, repair costs, and appearance of equipment and plants.
· Ensure rolling stock equipment PM work orders are completed. Plan and manage all needed repairs with input from EM and operations as needed. Document in JDE.
· Evaluate need for repairs, evaluate repair options, and oversee cost of equipment repairs. Consult EM as needed. Manage spare parts inventory for area.
· Ensure all fleet vehicles are properly equipped, licensed, tagged, placarded, and inspected to meet all state and federal DOT regulations.
· Manage yearly DOT inspection program within JDE. Provide field support in managing fleet licenses and tags.
· Manage procurement and compliance with necessary plant building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc. permits.
· Oversee move and installation of all plants; Oversee large capital plant repairs and upgrades.
· Coordinate transportation of equipment moves; Enter equipment move into JDE.
· Ensure costs charged to equipment and hours of equipment use entered into JDE for equipment in their area are accurate.
· Monitor equipment hourly usage entered into JDE via use of Hour Meter Correction report. Monitor rental equipment costs.
· Ensure all people, equipment, and processes are working in a safe manner meeting all local, state, and federal laws.
· Assist the environmental department in obtaining and compliance with all environmental permits, laws, and company policies.
· Training, mentoring, and oversight of field mechanics.
· And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Prior experience in heavy equipment repairs and or management of heavy equipment repairs is highly desired.
· Working knowledge of ERP and other software systems related to equipment – preferably JDE but not required.
· B.S. or A.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required; and/or related technical experience in management of heavy construction equipment.
· Flexibility with working hours, including a willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or nightshift as needed for extended periods of time.
· Computer skills and experience with Word and Excel.
· Drafting/CAD knowledge is desired but not necessary.
· Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
· Performs a variety of tasks.
· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
