The role of the Construction Technology Department is to disrupt the status quo by developing and leading the execution of innovative, transformational strategies utilizing the latest technological advancements to design breakthroughs that deliver new value to our clients and partners. As a part of this team, you will be responsible for working cross functionally to gather, nurture, grow, and develop innovative programs and will be a resource between business unit and national innovation efforts.
Essential Functions
• Support, develop, and collaborate on potentially disruptive innovations forward from various stages of development (conceptual, incubation, implementation, etc.) at project, regional, and national levels.
• Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to internal teams, sharing insights to help BE&K employees improve their business processes surrounding all aspects of the tech stack at their disposal.
• Promote open innovation and encourage group or crowdsourcing tools and processes that inspire creative thinking.
• Support the team participating in new grass-root product / service initiatives, facilitating the scaling up of those initiatives across the enterprise.
• Assist with pilot programs to test latest technology trends.
• Run in-depth technical demonstrations that highlight software value proposition, as well as uncover and demonstrate technical compatibilities.
• Participate in innovation teams through various experiments, pilot programs, and initiatives.
• Delve into the company tech stack and processes to identify any areas where there is opportunity to create efficiency gains or benefits.
• Help with documentation and communication of programs at all levels.
• Perform industry research, discovering technology trends and assist in determining their value to BE&K’s core business.
• Understand what all employees of BE&K do in their daily workflows so that you can effectively troubleshoot issues with the software they are using.
• Work cross functionally with other BE&K groups (Operations, Preconstruction, VDC, Information Technology, etc.).
• Work with the team to ideate, give feedback and deliver updates to software.

Working Conditions
• The Construction Technology Engineer will be required to be in one of the company’s offices.
• This role will require occasional travel to project jobsites and business unit offices throughout the country.
Position Requirements
• Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in the construction industry.
• Ideally a college degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or IT.
• Exceptional understanding of various construction technologies.
• Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving technological environment.
• Exceptional relationship building, listening and communication skills.
• Ability to break down complex processes, apply design thinking, and lean principles or solving business and project challenges.
• Comfortable learning about all aspects of the business from accounting and cost management to field operations.
• Look to continually improve and grow.
• Demonstrates high levels of enthusiasm and energy.
• Organizes and uses meeting time effectively.
