Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Resident Engineer with extensive experience working on projects under the New York State Department of Parks and Recreation (NYSDPR). The role involves overseeing all phases of project execution for parks, recreational areas, and public infrastructure improvements in alignment with NYSDPR standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Supervision & Management:
- Oversee and manage on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with NYSDPR standards, project designs, and DPR specifications.
- Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with established timelines, budgets, and DPR deliverables.
- Coordinate between contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Conduct regular site inspections, ensuring the project meets safety and environmental standards in accordance with NYSDPR guidelines.
- Review, approve, and assess technical documents, including work plans, specifications, drawings, and materials.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as the on-site liaison between NYSDPR officials, clients, contractors, and various project stakeholders.
- Ensure timely communication with all stakeholders regarding project progress, challenges, and milestones.
- Coordinate with state regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with NYSDPR policies, environmental standards, and local regulations.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Implement strict quality control measures to ensure compliance with DPR specifications, NYSDPR standards, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular audits to verify the integrity and quality of materials and construction processes.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Monitor and manage project costs, ensuring they remain within approved budgets as outlined in the DPR.
- Prepare periodic reports on project status, budget tracking, and resource allocation for submission to NYSDPR and other stakeholders.
- Propose cost-effective solutions without compromising project quality or compliance.
- Safety & Environmental Management:
- Enforce safety protocols as mandated by NYSDPR and relevant safety codes on all project sites.
- Ensure that all environmental safeguards are in place and adhered to, in line with NYSDPR and local environmental regulations.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including site reports, DPR revisions, meeting minutes, and daily logs.
- Prepare comprehensive progress reports for NYSDPR, summarizing project developments, compliance issues, and overall performance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in infrastructure projects, particularly with public parks, recreation areas, or public works under the NYSDPR.
- Certification:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York is Plus
- Familiarity with NYSDPR procedures, policies, and environmental regulations.
