HHM Talent is assisting a client search for a VP of Finance for their manufacture company based in Chattanooga, TN.
This position is on site and the company will assist with relocation.
Position Summary:
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Vice President of Finance is responsible for the general accounting of a multi-subsidiary manufacturing company and will provide financial analysis that is useful in strategic decision making. This position will lead the accounting function and manage the accuracy of the day-to-day activities of the accounting staff. This position is responsible for all processes related to accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable, payroll, benefits, intercompany reconciliations, financial statement preparation and all federal and state tax filings.
Specific Duties:
Accounting, payroll & tax duties:
- Direct all aspects of accounting operations such as receivables, payables, inventory, payroll, cash, investment, and asset management.
- Coordinate, prepare and review all financial reports, ensuring accuracy and conformance to financial policies.
- Participate in regular strategy meetings and assist management with financial planning and budget management.
- Oversee Finance Manager to ensure accuracy and timeliness of tasks and maintain staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives.
- Design and implement internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Audit and oversee the reconciliation of corporate credit cards and bank accounts.
- Oversee accounts receivable and collections. Perfect lien rights as necessary.
- Oversee the processing and payment of approved invoices and employee expense reports.
- Verify accuracy of vendor invoices and efficiently utilize vendor discounts.
- Manage fixed assets and maintain asset schedule.
- Oversee all aspects of payroll including the relationship with the payroll service provider and ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and payroll tax compliance.
- Responsible for preparing internally or coordinating the external preparation of tax returns (income tax, sales tax, payroll taxes, and IFTA (International Fuel Tax), etc).
Additional duties:
- On boarding new employees for payroll and benefits.
- Implement employee benefit programs as they become required by our growth.
- Ensure compliance for delivery trucks with the Department of Transportation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA filings.
- Work with the insurance broker to ensure proper business insurance coverage.
- Manage customer credit requests and applications for payment terms.
- Analyze financial reports and provide Senior Leadership Team with various key performance indicators.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; and minimum of five years of related experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP
- Demonstrated proficiency with Quickbooks Enterprise, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps and other digital tools.
- Excellent communicator in person and with written communications, including e-mails.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally as needed
Preferred:
- A minimum of two to five years’ experience in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of tax law relevant to small businesses
