We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Developer for a healthcare client in Nashville, TN. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and maintaining high-performance databases, developing and refactoring Oracle database objects, and supporting new technology initiatives. Key responsibilities include optimizing application performance, preparing comprehensive documentation, and collaborating with various teams. The role requires a B.S. in IT or Computer Science, 5+ years of Oracle database experience, and proficiency in technical writing and problem-solving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Design and maintain stable, reliable, and high-performance databases.
- Develop, implement, and refine database systems to meet end-user requirements.
- Create, test, and maintain Oracle database objects.
- Refactor existing database objects to enhance system control, diagnostics, and research capabilities.
- Explore and support new technologies to enhance database functionalities.
- Optimize application performance.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation for database applications.
- Maintain programming records in SourceSafe.
- Continuously learn and apply new programming techniques as needed.
- Collaborate with database personnel, front-end programmers, and customer support.
- Provide critical support during software issues.
- Draft documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for future reference.
Qualifications and Requirements
- B.S. in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in Oracle relational modeling, database development, and shell scripting.
- More than 3 years of experience with Oracle Database DDL, DML, and related concepts (tables, triggers, views, procedures, functions, packages), as well as PL/SQL, SQL languages using SQLplus, SQLcli, and/or SQLdeveloper.
- Experience with modeling tools like SQLmodeler, ERWIN, and TOAD, data extraction, Oracle Data Pump, SQL Loader, Unix, and shell scripting.
- Experience with database version control systems like VSS or equivalent.
- A track record of technical excellence in supporting scientific users, solving problems, and finding proactive solutions.
- Proven success in leading database transformation and development projects to successful implementation.
- Significant experience in Oracle database test development and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in technical writing, documenting solutions, and communicating with clients and users.
