The Director of Environment, Safety & Health will have a strategic role focusing on the development, implementation, and oversight of policies and programs that ensure Delphi Infrastructure Group operations protect our employees, customers, and the environment from potential harm while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations. Delphi Infrastructure Group is currently owned by the private equity firm, MPE Partners. MPE Partners focuses on lower middle market leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and build-up investments. The EH&S Director has a strategic role focusing on the development, implementation, and oversight of policies and programs that ensure the company’s operations comply with safety regulations. This position involves a deep understanding of the safety framework, as well as the ability to work closely with operations and various departments to integrate safety principles into the daily workings of the company. By fostering a culture of safety, the EH&S Director supports the organization’s objectives, not only by minimizing risks and protecting employees but also by ensuring sustainable practices that contribute to the company’s long-term success. Through their leadership, the EH&S Director has an instrumental role in guiding the organization towards operational excellence that aligns with both internal standards and external safety requirements. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to influence organizational culture to prioritize safety in all aspects of the business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and implements comprehensive safety policies and procedures across the company to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Leads internal audits and inspections to identify potential safety risks and non-compliance issues and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.
- Designs and delivers safety training programs for employees at all levels, contractors, and other stakeholders, to foster a culture of safety responsibility.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinates with HR to investigate accidents and incidents, ensuring thorough documentation, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Engages with customers and external stakeholders, including outside agencies, community groups, and to represent the company’s safety interests and commitments.
- Compliance & Reporting: The EH&S Director updates policies and conducts audits to ensure adherence to safety best practices at all levels.
- Risk Assessment: Works closely with the company risk insurance provider to apply industry-specific knowledge and strategic planning, developing mitigation plans that address these risks, ensuring employee, property, and safety.
- Incident Investigation: Following workplace incidents and near misses, the EH&S Director leads the effort to understand root causes and coordinates corrective actions. This involves evidence collection, witness interviews, and collaboration with teams across the company to enhance safety measures.
- Safety Training Program Development: Tailoring comprehensive training programs to educate employees on all safety protocols is a key duty. Through the analysis of workplace hazards and the creation of working with risk insurance partner to implement engaging training materials, the EH&S Director ensures that all personnel are well-informed and prepared to mitigate risks.
- Emergency Response Planning: Crafting strategies to manage workplace emergencies, ranging from natural disasters to spills, falls under the purview of the EH&S Director. This includes collaboration with local emergency services, execution of regular drills, and training staff on emergency procedures to ensure preparedness and safety.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, health, environmental, business, or a related field.
- 7 or more years of progressive experience in safety, with a focus on utility services construction preferred.
- Experience in developing and implementing safety policies, conducting safety audits, and managing emergency response plans is crucial.
- Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis.
- Proven track record of progressively responsible roles, demonstrating their ability to lead teams, influence organizational culture, and drive safety performance improvements.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Experience influencing and training a field-based workforce.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional math skills, proficiency with computers, MS Office (advanced Excel skills).
- Travel to business sites approximately 50%.
