The Director will demonstrate proficiency in preparing and analyzing different types of construction claims and becoming well versed in claim methodologies, damage models, and resolution strategies. The responsibilities of a Director include implementation of several forensic schedule delay analysis methodologies on projects; construction cost assessment to determine root causes of cost overruns on projects; and labor productivity analysis to quantify losses and establish entitlement to damages, engineering and construction standards of care, and design and construction defect evaluation, among others.
We are seeking a full-time Director for our Houston, Texas Office.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manages multiple small to medium client engagements simultaneously, along with segments of larger projects to support principal consultants.
- Manages client relationships, which includes communicating work progress and status, managing client meetings, and meeting client goals and deadlines.
- Manages staff in the analysis, development, and preparation of claims and expert opinions including providing direction in the evaluation of project planning, costs, schedules, construction-related claims, and quantification of damages.
- Provides quality assurance in generating reports and presentations for expert witness use during mediation, arbitration, and litigation and developing graphics and demonstrative aids.
- Participates and or presents findings in mediation hearings. Exhibits potential for testimony as expert witness in deposition, arbitration, or litigation on small to medium matters and/or co-testifies with a principal consultant.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, architecture, accounting, business, or other related experience is required.
- 10 + years of professional work in consulting, construction, project management, engineering, accounting, scheduling, and/or business demonstrating a progression in responsibility and accomplishment of increasingly difficult tasks or ten years minimum experience at Interface as a senior consultant.
- 5+ years of work experience in the preparation and evaluation of construction claims on complex construction projects either at Interface, an EPC or contracting company, and/or another reputable construction consulting firm specializing in claims and disputes.
- English fluency required and proficiency or fluency in other languages is a plus.
- Proficient experience with MS Office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficient experience with Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop; working knowledge of InDesign and Illustrator is a plus.
- Proficient experience with industry software such as Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access, and databases such as Ringtail, Relativity, and DISCO.
- Willingness and ability to develop business, provide presentations; highly skilled at written and verbal communications.
- Self-motivated with effective time management skills and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Proven self-starter with a record of continuing education or professional development.
- Exhibits leadership skills through effective management of consultants and multiple assignments.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional team environment on multiple assignments.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, writing, oral and written communications, problem solving, and presentation skills.
- Possesses experience with large-scale (greater than $50 million) construction projects.
- Is a member of, or not a member but routinely participates in, professional/industry communities such as SCLNA, ABA, HBA, ABC, DBIA, SMPS, AGC, etc.
- Professional licensure (PE, Architect) and/or certification (e.g., AACE – Certified Cost Professional, Planning and Scheduling Professional, Certified Forensic Claims Consultant; PMI – Project Management Professional; American Institute of Constructors – Certified Professional Constructor; and CMAA – Certified Construction Manager) is preferred.
