Job Summary:
The Foundry Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within a high-volume foundry. This role ensures that all equipment, machinery, and facilities are functioning at optimal levels to support production goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of foundry processes, and extensive experience in preventative and predictive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Maintenance Team: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring all daily tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Maintenance Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Equipment Management: Oversee the repair, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of all foundry equipment including furnaces, molds, cranes, and sand systems.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with company safety protocols, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations.
- Budget Management: Monitor and manage the maintenance budget, including labor, materials, and external vendor costs, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Vendor Management: Work with external suppliers and contractors to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of parts, services, and repairs.
- Emergency Repairs: Coordinate and lead immediate repairs during equipment breakdowns to reduce production downtime.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to improve operational efficiency, including equipment upgrades, layout improvements, and process innovations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, equipment performance, and safety compliance.
- Team Development: Provide ongoing training and development for the maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of maintenance experience in a foundry or heavy industrial setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Familiarity with foundry-specific equipment (furnaces, molds, casting processes) is highly preferred.
