We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Trust & Estate Planning Legal Assistant to join a large national firm. The ideal candidate will provide critical support to our attorneys by managing documents, interacting with clients, and handling administrative tasks related to estate planning matters. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with the preparation and filing of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
- Maintain and organize case files, ensuring that all documents are up to date and filed correctly.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, schedule appointments, and provide updates on case status.
- Manage attorney calendars and coordinate meetings, hearings, and deadlines.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal correspondence and other documentation.
- Conduct basic legal research and manage document templates for efficient use.
- Handle the signing, notarization, and witnessing of estate planning documents as needed.
- Coordinate with financial institutions and other third parties involved in the estate planning process.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality requirements and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in estate planning, probate, or trusts.
- Familiarity with estate planning terminology, procedures, and document management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal practice management software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to client service.
- Notary Public certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
