Boston Metal is commercializing cutting edge extractive metallurgy technology that will revolutionize primary metals production, while decreasing cost and lowering environmental impact. This fast-paced startup company is looking for an ESG Manager to join our growing team.
You will develop and oversee environmental, social, and corporate governance policies and procedures. This role involves reviewing and appraising proposed transactions to ensure they are socially and environmentally sustainable and comply with relevant standards. The ESG Manager will also create and consolidate a framework for all ESG practices, monitor execution, audit results, and report the program to the company's shareholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop materiality matrix for the business’ entire ESG footprint.
- Lead long-term impact and sustainability efforts within the company.
- Develop and implement ESG policies and procedures.
- Review and appraise proposed transactions for social and environmental sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with IFC standards, GRI, SASB, CDP.
- Create and consolidate a framework for all ESG practices.
- Monitor the execution of ESG initiatives and audit results.
- Report ESG program outcomes to shareholders and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with underwriters and stakeholders to address compliance gaps and identify opportunities for proactive value addition.
- Collect and consolidate data to compile the company's greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, ensuring accuracy and alignment with international reporting standards, such as the GHG Protocol.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders (employees, suppliers, regulators, and communities) to promote ESG best practices and foster a culture of sustainability within the organization.
- Identify and manage ESG risks and opportunities within the company’s operations, supply chain, and external partnerships, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term sustainability goals.
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years in ESG management position.
- Experience with B Corp and GRI institutions and their operational practices.
- Proven understanding of environmental, social, and governance standards and regulations.
- Experience in developing and implementing ESG frameworks.
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting and auditing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
