The Legal Department at Hilton Hotels plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the company’s interests and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This dynamic team is responsible for providing legal guidance on a wide range of issues, including contract negotiations, intellectual property, labor relations, and risk management. Members of the department collaborate closely with various business units to develop strategies that align with Hilton’s goals while mitigating legal risks. Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical skills, a keen understanding of hospitality law, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively. Responsibilities:
- Support a team of lawyers and paralegals with U.S. legal disputes, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the litigation process.
- Help with tasks like gathering and responding to documents, answering questions, conducting audits, reviewing briefs, and managing settlement payments.
- Work in areas such as Employment, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), Contracts, Guest issues, Intellectual Property (IP), and Regulatory matters.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal role, with a strong understanding of U.S. legal practices and procedures.
- A college degree is required; a paralegal certificate is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proven ability to assist with complex U.S. litigations for the Managed estate, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Be a team player and a quick learner, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to take on new challenges.
- Comfortable making independent decisions while collaborating with a team, showcasing strong judgment and initiative.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and various legal databases, with the ability to leverage technology for efficient legal research and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all legal documentation and correspondence.
- Experience with compliance and regulatory matters, particularly in the hospitality or service industry, is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Familiarity with litigation management software and tools is advantageous.
- A proactive approach to identifying potential legal issues and recommending solutions to mitigate risks.
