Field Service Technician - Food Packaging Industry
Location: Various locations (80% travel required)
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team in the food packaging industry. This role involves extensive travel (approximately 80% of the time) to install, upgrade, and troubleshoot advanced packaging equipment at customer sites. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installations: Execute the installation of packaging machinery and systems at client locations, ensuring compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
- Upgrades and Commissioning: Perform upgrades and commissioning of existing equipment, integrating new technology to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to packaging machinery, utilizing analytical skills to ensure minimal downtime for customers.
- Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance and routine checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Customer Training: Provide training to customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of packaging systems to ensure proper use and maximize efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service activities, including installations, repairs, and customer interactions, using the company’s service management software.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and sales teams to communicate customer feedback and contribute to product development and improvement.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in field service or a similar role within the food packaging or industrial machinery industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of packaging machinery, with hands-on experience in installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- PLC Knowledge: Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLC) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and make decisions on-site.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Travel: Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80% of the time) and flexibility to work irregular hours as needed.
- Education: Relevant technical degree or certification in engineering, electronics, or a related field is a plus.
