Project Engineer Contractor
Location: Joplin, MO (Joplin NAF). This is an onsite position with up to 20% remote flexibility.
Schedule: M-F, flexible schedule (up to 40 hrs/week). Potential work on weekends depending on project assignment.
This position requires a lot of onsite interfaces with platform teams and other departments/stakeholders; therefore, onsite presence is required. The manager is willing to consider entry level candidates including recent college grads that are willing to learn/work in project management
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Joplin is a non-union facility with 480 employees leading the safe, high quality production of frozen dough products for the North America Food and Meals & Baking operating units. The plant has 8 production systems (silos, flour system delivery, liquid delivery system, mixers, sheeting systems, blasting freezers and packaging) and 6 palletizers. The Project Engineer will develop and execute manufacturing plant capital projects including scope, schedule, budget, procurement, installation and performance. This role will provide technical solutions across the Hannibal site, working with a cross functional team.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Lead Engineer on capital projects - overall project management, budget, schedule management, construction management, start-up, conceptual phases, project close-out, scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check-out.
• Maintain engineering interface with business unit team - maintain close working relationship with quality, manufacturing, operations leadership, and financial operations.
• Offer production support and troubleshooting assistance to Engineers, Team Leaders, and Maintenance.
• Provide support to annual capital planning process, which may include development and management of the capital program for an operating department.
• Provide support updating and managing CAD drawings.
EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:
• Demonstrated skills in executing concurrent assignments with emphasis on project management and productivity.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, adaptability, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision making, troubleshooting, communications, team management, and human relations skills.
• Strong ability to involve operators and mechanics in the project process.
• Willingness to work with plant technicians, leadership staff, outside vendors and managing contractors and engineering firms.
• Demonstrated good understanding of processing systems and a working knowledge of plant manufacturing, engineering, quality, and research functions.
