Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Reporting into the CSO, lead and shape the medicinal chemistry strategy, ensuring the discovery and development of innovative small molecules that drive the success of our pipeline.
- Scientific Excellence: Provide expert guidance on the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel compounds with a clear focus on therapeutic potential, safety, and efficacy.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of medicinal chemists, computational chemists and ML engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and discovery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with biology, pharmacology, computational chemistry, and clinical development teams to advance compounds from discovery through development.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the portfolio of drug discovery projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality candidates that align with business goals.
- Innovation & Problem Solving: Drive innovative approaches to drug design, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, data, and emerging trends in medicinal chemistry.
- External Partnerships: Collaborate with academic institutions, biotech partners, and CROs to expand capabilities and stay at the forefront of scientific advancements.
Key Qualifications:
- PhD in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field with a strong record of scientific achievement.
- 15+ years of experience in drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, with demonstrated success in advancing compounds through the pipeline.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing and mentoring high-performing cross-functional scientific teams.
- Deep expertise in modern medicinal chemistry techniques, structure-based drug design, and knowledge of pharmacokinetics and toxicology.
