Located in Hershey, PA, Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a home and school for 2,100 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Founded in 1909 and fully endowed, MHS has almost 12,000 graduates and is growing to serve more students. MHS is currently seeking Home Life Administrators (HLAs). The HLA provides leadership and support to MHS's full- and part-time Houseparents (the school's residential caretakers of the Pre-K through 12th grade students). In addition to the daily supervision of the residential staff, HLAs collaborate within the Home Life Department and throughout the school to ensure safe and smooth operations and positive student outcomes. Some of the responsibilities include:
- Supervision of at least 12 student homes and the full- and part-time staff living in those homes.
- Providing staff development, coaching and support. This includes regular and frequent interactions, providing feedback and guidance, and conducting formal performance planning and review sessions.
- Frequently visiting Houseparents in their homes to build positive working relationships with staff and students. Provide observations, support, and direction.
- Maintain an awareness of challenges and improvement opportunities to provide support and direction to address issues and continuously improve.
- Problem solving with difficult issues and decisions in student homes (includes pro-active interactions with students' sponsors and cross-functional collaboration).
- Addressing staff and student disciplinary matters.
- Promoting a safe and secure campus and home environment.
- Supporting the MHS Strategic plan, Home Life programs, and policies designed to facilitate student achievement & excellence consistently across campus.
- Providing quality programming to support staff and students.
- Handling administrative matters including budgeting and scheduling.
- Residing on campus and working on-call.
This is an on-site position in Hershey, PA with a starting salary in the range of $74,862-$99,000 annual (pay is determined based on experience.) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Houseparent or working in an educational residential setting.
- Experience supervising adults.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to influence and effect change.
- Demonstrated administrative skills, including computer competencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Crisis intervention skills required.
- Driver's license in good standing.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.
- Required to live on-campus and serve on-call as needed.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are considered role models for MHS students.
- Must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
