Role: Network Technician I
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15203 (Onsite)
Duration: 18 months (Possible Extension)
Shift: Flexible: 8 am – 5 pm
Travel: Local travel in the Pittsburgh area
600 Grant St, South Side, Homestead, West Mifflin, Clairton, Braddock, Airport
Travel to sites to support, as required
Pay Range: $27 – $31 per hour on W2 without any benefits.
Job Description:
- Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots data or voice networks; responds to alarms or problems identified by tools.
- Implements pre-defined trouble-shooting procedures and scripts and escalates as appropriate.
- May assume vendor interface duties.
- Monitors and controls the performance and status of the network resources.
- Utilizes software and hardware tools, identifies, and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
- Provides guidance and direction for less-experienced technicians.
- Under general direction, responsible for the most complex testing and analysis of all elements of the network and telecommunications facilities (including power, communications devices, lines, modems, and terminals).
- Associate's degree in applicable technical field.
Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will serve in a network support and project delivery role as part of the Data Networking team in support of all technical, business and related requirements to maintain the data network at the Pittsburgh offices and Mon Valley Works steel plan sites.
- Contributes to the team support for data network and server incident and event management including investigation, troubleshooting, reporting, resolution, root cause analysis and corrective action management – this includes on-call, off-hours support for on-site work
- Coordinates with Client and Accenture teams in delivery of services to HDQ customers
- Participates as a fully integrated member of the Data Networking team, responsible to the delivery of successful solutions and trouble resolution
- Monitors data networks for performance, security and stability – takes action to identify trends and proactively address issues
- Candidate is willing to work in a hands-on role deploying equipment in office and heavy-industry environments including Data Center areas, as required
- Demonstrated expertise, either thru training, certification or work experience, managing Wired and Wireless networks, preferably in a Cisco environment.
- CCNA certification preferred

- Accomplished analyst able to manage complex technical problems through identification, design, solution definition and implementation
- Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships related to incident management, project coordination, relationship development and SLA maintenance
- On call support required, including participation in team on call (24/7) rotation; candidate must be willing to work flexible hours as demanded by outage, migration & on-call activities
- Hands-on team member willing to work in heavy industry/plant environments
Minimum Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience, or equivalent certifications/training, supporting data networking technologies in an enterprise environment, including:
- LAN switching and routing in a Cisco enterprise network environment
- WLAN fundamentals and support of Cisco solutions
- Server fundamentals
Desired Qualifications:
- Cisco CCNA certification, or greater
- Server hardware repair expertise
- Project Management experience / certification
Preferred Experience:
- Palo Alto / Firewall support
- Advance IP routing experience, including OSPF and BGP protocol solution design proficiency
- Data center network support including Arista platform
- Internet routing and security
- Network security controls and related disciplines
- Scripting or Programming in a Network environment (Ansible etc)
- Netbrain support
Comments:
- Client to provide laptop for the purpose of technical support.
- Candidate to provide personal phone to employ company BYOD for email/alerting.
