The Manager of Certification reports to the Director of Certification and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day activities related to promoting, processing, and following-up on WBE (Women Business Enterprise) certification requests, most of which fall under the direction of the Women's Business Enterprise Council Ohio River Valley (WBEC ORV) team.

Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and manage the volunteer certification and appeals committee on the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certification standards and procedures, certification process and site visits.
- Process all certification applications.
- Recruit Certification Review Committee Members
- Perform desk audit of applications for certification, checking accuracy of information and eligibility.
- Ensure applicant files are prepared for the certification committee’s review.
- Plan and manage monthly certification committee meetings, and appeals committee meetings including agenda, minutes and required committee meeting quorum.
- Meet WBEC’s annual Women Business Enterprise Program goals.
- Manage scheduling of client site visits and conduct site visits as needed.
- Maintain and update processes, procedures, checklists and work flow and ensure they are in compliance with WBENC’s standards and procedures.
- Develop, manage, and implement WBE recruitment and retention procedures.
- Prepare and submit reports to WBENC and WBEC management.
- Oversee and work with the Certification Coordinator to ensure recertification goals are met and files are processed in accordance with WBENC’s standards and procedures.
- Manage and maintain the WBENC certification program database and ensure its accuracy.
- Assists Council Members in sourcing potential opportunities and outreach events to clients.
- Prepare and follow up with any WBEC ORV training and other meetings.
- Design and conduct certification workshops.
- Facilitate Certification Education Outreach
- Counsel clients regarding the public/private sector certification processes.
- Attend internal and external events and speak at functions as required.
- Communicate effectively with government agencies, private and public companies, women’s groups, certification committee volunteers and the general public.
- Ensure compliance of WBENC’s standards and procedures and WBEC’s designation agreement.
- Assist in overall mission of WBEC by working in a team environment to effectively complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Three or more years of administrative/management experience in the private/public sector and/or a non-profit agency in a paralegal/legal/regulatory/compliance environment.
- At least three to five years of business administration and/or experience related to the organization’s industry required with supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
- Solid organizing, planning, tracking skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in managing committees and working with volunteers.
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Access, Word, Excel and Outlook, Internet, database management and online database management.
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel outside the area approximately 4 times a year. Use of personal vehicle required for site visits, when needed.

- Ability to follow policies and procedures while keeping manager fully informed at all times of emerging issues and progress.
- May infrequently need to be available to work after hours for special events, conferences, or regional travel to conduct site visit interviews, when required.
- Non-profit sector familiarity is a plus.
