Apex Systems is looking to add multiple Sample Control Technician’s to join our client in Fresno, CA. The primary role of a Sample Control Technician is to log and track the receipt and shipment of all samples into and out of the laboratory, ensuring verification of sample receipt. This position also involves preparing bottle kits for client delivery and ensuring accurate and timely documentation of sample logging, labeling, and routing.
Compensation:
$20-22/hr per experience ($30-33/hr for overtime hours as applicable)

Job Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming samples or consignments in accordance with DOT regulations, verifying receipt against Chain of Custody (COC) and matching it to the corresponding quote, noting discrepancies daily.
- Verify that COCs are accurate, complete, and correct, seeking resolution for any discrepancies.
- Log samples into the Lab Management System daily to assign lot numbers for tracking purposes and distribute paperwork to Project Managers.
- Label samples for identification by lot number and deliver them to appropriate labs for analysis daily.
- Prepare bottle kits daily for shipment to clients for sample collection and return for analysis, following established procedures including EPA and DOT requirements.
- Forward samples to other laboratories as needed, in accordance with DOT regulations, for tests not performed at the current location.
- Dispose of spent samples, waste, and other potentially hazardous materials following established procedures.
- Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures daily to ensure readings are within SOP guidelines.
- Clean and organize the department daily to promote a clean, safe work environment and smoother daily operations.
- Maintain and promote safety, conducting all operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
- Stock and supply inventory daily, assisting with inventory management to maintain proper quantities of materials for task performance.
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Advanced knowledge of laboratory and testing procedures.
- Advanced ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in lab science or a related field preferred.
- 1-2+ years of relevant experience required.
