Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator
Job Description:
We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to join our team as an Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator. This role is pivotal in engaging with individuals who have lived experiences of homelessness, ensuring their voices shape the decisions made in our homeless response system. As part of our team, you will actively advocate for equitable access to services, recruit participants for community programs, and provide training to empower individuals to share their experiences and help drive policy changes.
This is a full-time, hybrid position, with working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. The ideal candidate must live within a commutable distance from Sacramento, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage and Support: Build relationships with individuals with lived experiences of homelessness, supporting them in participating in program development and community events.
- Advocacy: Advocate for equitable access to housing and services for marginalized communities and those impacted by homelessness.
- Training Programs: Develop and implement training programs that help participants improve their leadership, public speaking, and advocacy skills.
- Outreach and Recruitment: Lead outreach efforts to recruit individuals for participation in community programs and committees, ensuring their input is valued and heard.
- Community Engagement: Organize and facilitate meetings, focus groups, and workshops that foster collaboration between individuals with lived experience, staff, and community partners.
- Project Coordination: Work alongside internal teams and external partners to support projects aimed at addressing homelessness, providing project updates, and managing timelines.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in community engagement, outreach, or social services.
- Project management skills and the ability to organize and lead meetings.
- Passionate about equity, social justice, and advocating for marginalized communities.
- Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office and project management platforms like Asana is a plus.
Compensation:
- Pay range is $27.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience.
