How would you contribute?
This role is a contributing member of our Airlite Plastics/EPS plant, located in Omaha, NE. As a Production Supervisor you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. This role is responsible for As a Production Supervisor you are responsible for organizing and prioritizing production flow to achieve division goals through developing and coaching assistant supervisors and production personnel by performing the following duties. Supervises the Shipping Supervisor along with the warehouse and shipping employees. Will support and back-up the EPS Production Manager which includes directing, coordinating, supervising and managing the day to day operational aspects of production operations, labor management of EPS manufacturing, shipping and warehouse processes with the support of shift supervisors and leads.
Essential Duties:
- Analyzes production requirements to estimate worker hours that meet both internal and external customer needs.
- Delegates production requirements to lead packer and quality assurance person that are clear, measurable and informative.
- Interfaces with production personnel to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Ensures conformance to customer quality requirements.
- Directs machine operators, mold changers and expander operators in adjusting of machines and equipment that fail to produce to quality and quantity standards.
- Works closely with the EPS Production Manager & the EPS Engineering Process Technician to understand the machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance, optimum utilization to improve OEE.
- Develops, recommends and implements measures to improve effectiveness of production methods, machine performance and scrap reduction.
- Submits recommendations for changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase production efficiency.
- Analyzes and resolves production problems and coaches employees in solving production problems.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Communicates and implements company policies and standards of conduct, safety and housekeeping. Audits and maintains housekeeping expectations.
- Responsible for reporting food safety problems to management.
- Cooperatively develops and implements employee evaluations and performance reviews. Conducts employee skill and proficiency assessments.
- Structures and initiates training and coaching procedures to support and achieve employee skill development and attainment.
- Participates in the development and implementation of new technologies.
- Will be a main operator of the IQMS software system for production, inventory management, equipment real time monitoring, warehouse inventory control, physical count auditing as determined necessary, etc.
- Communicates production support needs to maintenance and shipping functions.
- Maintains attendance to company standards.
- Works weekends, other shifts and holidays as required to meet customer requirements and company priorities.
- Implement and support 5S standards throughout facility.
- Ensure the entire EPS facility is neat, clean and organized at all times.
- Exhibits objectivity and openness to other’s views.

- Assesses the overall effectiveness of our training programs to determine their effectiveness in meeting employee development objectives.
- Control expenditures, labor overtime and costs within limitations of the EPS Division budget.
- Asks for and offers help when needed.
- Plans, organizes and schedules all phases of work in a detailed and timely manner.
- Identifies resources needed and assigns individuals responsibilities to complete the tasks.
- Prepares production operations schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities, including shipping and maintenance, to ensure achievement of production and quality expectations.
- Develops or revises standard operational, work practices and initiates inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
- Uses mold monitoring tools and reports to maintain mold manufacturing standards and production targets and expectations.
- Coordinates maintenance repair and PM activities to coincide with production demand and priorities.
- Communicates factual, accurate and timely information with subordinates, production leadership and other support groups/individuals.
- Maintains accurate employee, mold, shipping, maintenance and machine records.
- Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
- Plans production operations, establishes priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
- Assesses and compares labor needs against availability and coordinates activities with HR to fulfill production labor needs.
- Maintains excellent attendance.
- Have the Leadership Skills to take the initiative to ask for and offer help when needed.

- Ability to support 3rd shift (10:30pm - 7:00am)
- Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school preferred
- Three (3) years of successful first-line supervisor experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPR/ERT Certification preferred.
- Forklift and power lifting equipment licenses preferred.
- Directly supervises up to 12 to 32 employees per shift.
- Organize and prioritize production flow to achieve goals through developing, coaching, assessing and evaluating shift coordinators, mold operators, lead packers and packers.
- At times will manage both 2nd and 3rd shift supervisors, mold tool maintenance and production/plant maintenance with the support of the EPS Production Manager. May be involved in interviewing, scheduling, training, assigning & directing work.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Manufacturing software.
