The mission of Mt. Holiday is connecting the community through four seasons of affordable outdoor recreation.
The Development Director or “Director” is responsible for leading and overseeing all fundraising activities of Mt. Holiday (MTH). Other key duties include marketing and community outreach. The position develops, implements and monitors a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of the organization. The Director is a key member of the senior management team at MTH.
The Director reports to the Executive Director. Position duties and responsibilities include:
- Serve as Mt. Holiday’s primary fundraising leader; develop a strategic annual fundraising plan aimed at increasing organizational capacity and ensuring long-term growth and sustainability
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and existing donors; strengthen relationships with corporate and foundation partners; and engage Board of Directors to support these efforts
- Manage grants, including researching available grant options, writing grant proposals, maintaining the grant calendar, tracking budgets and outcomes, and submitting reports in a timely manner
- Collect, organize, and maintain a complete and accurate database record of donors and funding received. Creates funding targets for Board of Directors. Establish tracking tools and monitor monthly
- Oversee branding and communication including content creation for newsletters, website, social media and other printed marketing and outreach materials
- Develop and implement community engagement activities including events
- Act as primary point of contact for funding, donations and fundraising event inquiries
- Provide positive senior leadership for the organization and its staff to ensure the highest quality execution of the MTH standard of excellence
- Pursue strategic alliances with nonprofits, businesses, facilities and organizations locally and nationally
- Pursue affiliation or accreditation with sports and outdoor recreation organizations
- Work effectively with Board committees and the Board of Directors as needed
Desired Skills/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Five years of related successful fundraising experience with a non-profit
- People oriented with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels in a variety of environments.
- Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.

Salaried, commensurate with experience
