Job Summary:
This position leads efforts toward improving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) workplace performance by promoting a positive safety culture, identifying and mitigating EHS risk and implementing safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies and standards.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Implement best practice safety programs
- Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis).
- Responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics.
- Administer environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements, corporate initiatives, company objectives and business partner requirements.
- Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.
- Assist in the administration of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental standards and reporting.
- Develop and promote a positive safety culture throughout the site’s
- Develop content for weekly and monthly Safety communication
- Partner with site management to ensure applicable EHS related goals (accident rates, training participation, etc.) and regulatory requirements (assessments, plans, training, etc.) are satisfied.
- Perform data analysis on accident and/or injury information to determine focus areas for remediation and prevention, risk management and loss prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
- Complete, or assist in the completion of, required reporting and record keeping, OSHA and EPA.
- Manage EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures in accordance with corporate standards.
- Work with sites to develop, manage, and keep current all site emergency action plans.
- Assure forklift (with licensing) or other specialized equipment training is performed and documented at each location.
- Partner with facilities, architects, and other groups to ensure site construction/renovation activities incorporate safety related considerations.
- Duties can expand at the discretion and warrant of need as deemed appropriate by management.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, operations, business, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with OSHA regulations and safety administration in a transportation/logistics, general industry, or warehousing environment preferred
- Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) & Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence, and initiative without daily interaction with management.
- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate work under the pressures of tight deadlines.
- Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to constructively interact with all levels of the organization and external partners.
- Proficient with Office programs such as MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in extreme environments such as, varying refrigerated and freezer temperatures and seasonal climate conditions.
