ELS is hiring for the position of Category Management Analyst in Chicago, Illinois.
What you’ll do:
We are seeking a Category Management Analyst to manage and optimize the procurement of indirect goods and services, which includes but is not limited to purchasing equipment, supplies and services to support day-to-day operations of our communities, campgrounds and marinas. This role will involve data analysis, vendor management, and ensuring that our services meet the needs of residents and guests while adhering to budgetary and regulatory requirements.
Your job will include:
- Procurement: Sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, and support placing orders for maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) items and services (e.g., waste management, cable TV, and internet services)
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to the procurement of MRO items and services to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with consultants and service providers to negotiate contracts, monitor service delivery, and ensure compliance with service level agreements. Work with consultants to negotiate favorable terms and conditions, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and performance expectations.
- Budget Management and Compliance: Assist in the development and variance analysis of budgets for waste, cable, and internet services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial targets.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a point of contact for property operations team regarding service-related inquiries and concerns, facilitating resolutions in a timely manner.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports and presentations on service performance, trends, and recommendations for enhancements to stakeholders and senior leadership. Maintain accurate and organized contract files, ensuring easy access for internal stakeholders and compliance audits. Maintain a centralized contract management system to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Support sustainability efforts by promoting recycling and waste reduction programs across the communities.
Experience & skills you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Communications, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in service management, data analysis, or related roles.
- Experience developing and negotiating a variety of contracts, including service agreements and vendor contracts. Leveraged strong understanding of commercial terms to align agreements with business objectives while mitigating risks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with consultants, vendors, and team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of indirect procurement, waste management and/or telecommunications services is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
