This is a full-time and fully on-site position in Downtown Chicago. Candidates must be on-site 5 days per week and comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
Job Description
We are looking for a Lead Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer to join our operations team. This role is crucial in designing, building, coordinating, and maintaining robust infrastructure needed to support our web services while ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Build an organization that can grow and scale to provide the computing resources that will power our company now and into the future
- Design, Manage, and Maintain Cloud Infrastructure: from development through production environments
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to develop and refine automation tools to enhance deployment and operational processes.
- Ensure infrastructure and tools support scaling and adoption of new technologies and features.
- Develop and implement security and IT standards to manage risks and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Work with various teams to translate business needs into technical implementations and maintain high availability and disaster recovery systems.
- Build and manage a team of professionals to scale the organization as its needs grow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure roles, including hands-on experience with AWS cloud environments including Lambda, EC2, EKS, Dynamo, Aurora, Kafka, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with high-scale environments, high throughput environments, and distributed microservices.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform.
- Expertise in networking, virtualization, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and monitoring solutions.
- Exceptional problem-solving, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A complementary degree or coursework in management, business or a related field.
- Experience building and leading high-performance infrastructure engineering teams.
- Experience in supporting a wide array of user IT and compute needs from engineers to executives and others throughout an organization.
