Position Overview
Be a part of a nonprofit dedicated to by providing homes and critical services like life skills, financial literacy, and job training in its local area. As the Vice President of Finance, you will lead the organization's financial strategy, overseeing financial administration, business planning, and budgeting. Reporting to the CAIO and working closely with the COO and CDO, you will play a key role in shaping financial policies and strategic direction.
Responsibilities
- Oversee long-term budget planning and cost management aligned with the organization's strategic goals
- Assist in preparing board finance committee presentations on financial trends and operational changes
- Direct budgeting processes, monitor financial progress, and present metrics to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure financial record-keeping follows GAAP and monitor fund usage
- Oversee financial reporting for funders and the board; prepare monthly and annual financial statements
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and all accounting activities
- Coordinate audit activities and ensure compliance with grant requirements and loan covenants
- Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring alignment with cross-departmental functions
- Provide guidance on talent development and foster a high-performance finance department
- Oversee and improve accounting operations for accuracy and efficiency
- Act as the main liaison with external stakeholders, including banks and investment advisors
- Develop and refine fiscal systems to support organizational growth
- Lead the annual budget process, ensuring collaboration and thorough financial planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA/CMA preferred, MBA a plus
- 10+ years of broad financial experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles; nonprofit experience a plus
- Proven expertise in financial management, budgeting, controls, and reporting
- Strong analytical skills, able to convert strategic vision into operational plans
- Proficient in accounting software (NetSuite preferred) with advanced Excel and tech skills
- Excellent oral and written communication; collaborative and adaptable
- Strong focus on team development and passion for the organization’s mission
- High integrity with a hands-on leadership style in a dynamic, mission-driven environment
- Experience with state and federal contracts a plus
Compensation
- Salary: $160,000-$165,000
