The Choice Inc, is supporting an immediate hiring need for our client, a higher education association in the public health space. This is a highly visible and critical position that will provide leadership to the association’s governance matters, including preparing for board meetings, drafting and maintaining board minutes and resolutions, and ensuring accurate implementation of board decisions.
The organization requires ASAP support as this is a recent vacancy in the department. They will be starting candidates on a temporary basis, to support immediate needs, however there is definitely strong opportunity for a permanent position, if it is a good fit.
We are seeking association professionals with:
- Experience working with association board of directors or senior executives in a governance- related role. Experience drafting and/or writing bylaws, public facing policies and operational procedures.
- Experience with planning logistics for meetings and events.
- Interest and experience in staff supervisory management highly preferred but not required.
Overview of Job Duties:
- Facilitates the organization’s Board of Directors processes, developing and updating standard operating procedures, managing call for nominations and elections, planning and facilitating the organization’s House of Delegates, and maintaining the Board of Directors Handbook and Bylaws.
- Plan and implement governance functions, including preparing for board meetings, drafting and maintaining board minutes and resolutions, and ensuring accurate implementation of board decisions.
- Assists the Board of Directors with strategic planning processes and working with senior leadership to align and implement the strategic plan in accordance to the organization’s mission and goals
- Support budgetary responsibilities related to governance; partners with the President and CEO and Senior Chief Financial Officer to ensure that budget goals are attainable.
Note: The organization is open to considering professionals at a variety of levels for this governance position. Candidates without staff supervisory experience may be considered at an administrator level.
Required schedule/in office:
A hybrid, in-office schedule is required. Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays are required in -office days. Mondays/Fridays are remote. Candidates must be fully open to this schedule and be able to commute to downtown DC. The office location is highly Metro-accessible and is within close walking distance to all Metro lines (Metro Center/Gallery Place/Mt Vernon Square are all close by). 35 hour work week.
Salary:
Starting at $44 an hour, hourly
