Senior Data Analytics Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3x-4x per week)
Prodigy Resources is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our dynamic data infrastructure and analytics team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the Data & Analytics team as a Technical and Project Lead, focusing on crafting and implementing robust data architecture solutions.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product management to evaluate the technical feasibility of projects and refine requirements, providing clear explanations and guidance to the team.
- Advise and build consensus with management and stakeholders on technical projects, navigating complex issues and decisions.
- Collaborate with the data architect to provide feedback and shape overarching data architecture designs.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with team members and internal stakeholders to foster communication and address concerns.
- Coordinate technical discussions and team retrospectives to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
- Offer technical leadership to data engineers and data scientists/analysts, mentoring and coaching team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Oversee the execution of data and analytics projects, ensuring they are completed on time and meet specifications.
- Define and uphold coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes, implementing and documenting best practices for data storage, indexing, and query optimization.
- Evaluate and manage project risks, anticipate business challenges, escalate issues as needed, and recommend actionable improvements.
- Integrate continuous improvement practices, systems, and tools into daily operations, and coach others in their use.
- Establish and track team KPIs, manage technical debt, and identify optimization opportunities for long-term success.
- Contribute to cloud engineering, data engineering, data analysis, and dashboard creation as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in data roles, with hands-on coding experience within the past year.
- Minimum of 2 years in a tech lead or engineering manager role.
- Experience with big data and analytics, including building solutions on AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Proficiency with Apache Spark (Databricks experience preferred) and Python (5+ years).
- Familiarity with visualization tools such as Preset, PowerBI, or Tableau (2+ years).
- Experience with Data Warehouses (2+ years).
- Proven track record of successfully leading teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to craft compelling narratives, influence decisions, manage conflicts, and build consensus.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities.
