LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a temporary Legal Assistant for a premier law firm specializing in labor and employment law. This temporary position, slated to last 4-6 weeks, offers the potential for conversion to a permanent role for the right candidate. The Legal Assistant will play a vital role in coordinating and performing high-level tasks to facilitate efficient practice management supporting five attorneys.
Location: New York, NY (3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
Duration: 4-6 weeks, potential for conversion
Work Schedule: 35 hours per week
Hourly Pay: Up to $40.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to five attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements
- Prepare and format legal documents, correspondence, and reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to firm standards
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information pertaining to state and federal judicial systems and agency procedures in labor and employment law
- Assist in the preparation and filing of court documents, ensuring compliance with all procedural requirements
- Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems for case documents and attorney files
- Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and external agencies as needed
- Track deadlines and manage workflow to ensure timely completion of tasks
- Support attorneys with trial preparation and other special projects as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a legal environment
- 4+ years of experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role, preferably in labor and employment law
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal judicial systems and agency procedures
- Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
