The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, and testing electrical systems to meet business objectives. This role involves gathering and analyzing data, providing detailed documentation, and managing projects from concept to completion. The Senior Electrical Engineer also ensures compliance with codes, specifications, and safety standards while working closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee design, installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry codes and specifications.
- Evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of electrical systems, performing root cause failure analysis on equipment issues.
- Collaborate with project managers on the planning and execution of electrical capital projects.
- Develop project budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs.
- Prepare specifications for material and equipment purchases.
- Stay up to date with professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and participation in professional organizations.
- Consult with engineers, vendors, and contractors on current and potential engineering projects.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
- Promote safety excellence and ensure compliance through safe work practices.
- Manage external engineering and contractor resources as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 2+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the paper mill industry is a plus.
- Expertise in low and medium voltage power distribution (120V – 4160V).
- Familiarity with utility power systems, including 13.8kV.
- Knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes related to electrical power systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and power modeling software.
