Job Title: Logistics Planner – 6-Month Contract
Location: On-site in Houston, TX
Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

We’re seeking a dynamic professional to join our team on a 6-month contract with the potential to optimize and manage transportation operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and optimize transportation plans, balancing cost-efficiency and service requirements (lead times) to ensure smooth material movement.
- Utilize transportation software systems for scheduling, load planning, and tracking shipments, ensuring on-time deliveries to customer locations.
- Prepare and update weekly logistics schedules while coordinating product pickups with suppliers and managing transport permits and paperwork.
- Track and trace cargo in transit, providing real-time updates on shipment status to logistics, product lines, and sales teams.
- Collaborate with transport service providers to ensure efficient and effective execution of transportation processes.
- Monitor carrier performance via scorecards and assist in the rationalization of carriers for optimum routing solutions.
- Work with the sourcing team to manage pricing for high-volume lanes and receive and audit freight invoices.
- Manage last-mile deliveries for air and ocean shipments, resolving performance or schedule issues with internal and external customers.
- Handle freight claims and support the continuous improvement of logistics processes and systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency with desktop software, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Experience in production scheduling, distribution, materials, and inventory planning is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of local transport markets, including equipment, port and airport operations, and relevant regulations.
- Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
- Experience working with advanced Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and JDE is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of urgency while being a team player with flexibility in different shifts.
