Senior Mechanical Engineer – Battery Cell Design

The opportunity?
They own the silicon-based technology, but not the mechanical hardware and want to bring it in house.
You will be the first experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the company and provide full mechanical engineering capabilities. On top of this, you will also be responsible for selecting/identifying the most suitable CAD software and hardware tools. Reporting into the VP of Cell Engineering you will be given full autonomy and grow a team.
Responsibilities:
You will design their lithium-ion cells including materials specification and down-selection (tabs, foils, cans, pouches, etc.), including the creation and management of mechanical drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis, as well as mechanical modelling and characterization of the finished cell.

What you will bring?
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field and at least 7 years years related professional experience working with batteries (M.S. +5 years, PhD + 3 years)
- Strong fundamental understanding of thermomechanical behaviour of lithium-ion batteries of various chemistries and in various form factors in CAD and statistical approaches to product design
- Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles
- Experience performing Finite element analysis
