Job Summary:
The Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the list of dentists within the dental support organization (DSO) for the purpose of professional liability coverage. This role involves ensuring that all dentists are properly enrolled in professional liability insurance programs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, and coordinating risk management activities to minimize potential liabilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Dentist Enrollment: Coordinate the enrollment process for all dentists within the DSO into the professional liability insurance program.
2. Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and organized records of all enrolled dentists, including insurance policies, coverage details, and any relevant documentation.
3. Insurance Compliance: Ensure that all dentists meet the insurance requirements mandated by the DSO and regulatory bodies, such as maintaining appropriate coverage limits and submitting necessary documentation.
4. Risk Mitigation: Collaborate with dentists and relevant stakeholders to develop and implement risk management strategies, promoting a culture of patient safety and minimizing potential liabilities.
5. Compliance Monitoring: Conduct periodic audits and reviews to ensure the list of active dentists is up to date and matches with the carrier’s list of insureds.
6. Communication and Collaboration: Serve as a point of contact and liaison between the DSO, dentists, and insurance providers, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to address coverage-related issues.
7. Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry trends, legal regulations, and emerging risk management practices in the dental field, and recommend adjustments to policies and procedures accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare administration, risk management, or a related discipline) or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in risk management, insurance coordination, or a similar role within the healthcare or dental industry.
- Working knowledge of professional liability insurance policies and coverage requirements for dental professionals.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage and maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with dentists, insurance providers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
- Proficiency in using computer applications and databases for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
