Job Overview:
The Test Lab Manager will lead a dedicated team of engineers and technicians in the testing of transformers at Virginia Transformer’s VTCU location. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring the team executes all testing protocols efficiently and accurately, maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The Test Lab Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring the department runs seamlessly to meet business and customer demands. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to manage and motivate teams, continuously improving processes while ensuring customer satisfaction during witness testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire a team of engineers and technicians in the testing of transformers, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Oversee the planning, organization, and execution of all testing procedures, ensuring thorough and accurate results.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the department to enhance testing protocols, team efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.
- Develop and manage department schedules, ensuring the necessary resources are in place to support round-the-clock business needs and deadlines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer witness testing, ensuring successful coordination and a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Provide strategic leadership by mentoring team members, developing talent, and aligning team efforts with broader business objectives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, aligning testing outcomes with broader production and business goals.
- Ensure the department maintains strict adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards, actively driving initiatives that mitigate risks.
- Provide regular reporting and updates to senior management on department performance, key metrics, and improvement opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing technical departments, with a strong track record of leading teams of engineers and technicians.
- 5-7 years of industry experience in power electronics or a similar technical field.
This role requires strong leadership skills, a focus on operational excellence, and a deep understanding of technical testing processes, with the ultimate goal of leading a high-performing team to consistently meet and exceed organizational expectations.
