We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Director to join their team and play a pivotal role in supporting their mission.
Position Overview:
The Procurement Director will be responsible for leading the procurement function within the organization, ensuring that all sourcing activities align with our strategic goals and support our commitment to quality and innovation. This role will focus 70% on procurement activities, including supplier management, contract negotiation, and cost optimization, while also encompassing 30% supply chain responsibilities to ensure seamless integration of procurement with overall supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Focus (70%):
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy that aligns with the organization’s objectives, focusing on sourcing high-quality materials and services that support research, development, and manufacturing processes.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate contracts and terms to ensure favorable pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Cost Optimization: Monitor procurement budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and process improvements.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that all procured materials meet regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and new technologies. Utilize this information to make informed sourcing decisions.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Supply Chain Focus (30%):
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to understand their needs and ensure alignment between procurement and supply chain strategies.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels for raw materials and supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels to prevent shortages or excess while supporting production schedules.
- Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies, optimizing transportation and warehousing processes.
- Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement and supply chain activities, using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably within the biotechnology or life sciences industry.
- Proven track record of strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and cost management.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards in the biotechnology sector.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
