Job Summary:
The Manager of Ambulatory Operations, in collaboration with key leadership, is responsible for executing strategic plans, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring efficient workflow across one or more ambulatory clinics or units. This role ensures quality patient care, high satisfaction, adherence to policies, and regulatory standards. The Manager also manages budgets, resources, staffing, and general business functions including scheduling, office operations, and physician relations.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice:
- Ensure adherence to care standards, coordinate clinical practices, and deploy resources effectively.
- Develop service plans, monitor staff competence, and oversee patient care delivery.
- Promote a collaborative, patient-focused environment and maintain a safe work setting.
Operations:
- Improve workflows, enhance access, and ensure efficient daily operations.
- Partner with physician leaders, manage resources, and develop action plans based on performance metrics.
- Update and implement policies to support quality and productivity.
Leadership/Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff; ensure compliance with HR and licensing requirements.
- Foster a positive work culture, support professional development, and encourage open communication.
- Lead initiatives for staff retention, engagement, and recognition.
Budget and Financial Performance:
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, control costs, and monitor financial performance.
- Educate staff on budgetary awareness and accountability.
- Collaborate on capital budget planning with medical staff.
Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience:
- Align unit goals with organizational strategies and ensure quality improvement.
- Address issues to improve patient and employee satisfaction.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and integrate evidence-based practices.
Standard Management Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise staff, manage budgets, and resolve technical and operational issues.
- Support diversity, professionalism, and safety within the department.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or Nursing (required); MBA or MSN preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of operations leadership experience
- Leadership experience in an ambulatory/clinic setting required
- Project management skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, communication proficiency, and familiarity with Microsoft applications
Preferred:
- Experience working in Women's Services OR Primary Care
- Strong Operations background/ Business Acumen
- Lean Six Sigma Certified
