Sr. Project Engineer
Onsite position in Oak Forrest, IL
Target Base Salary: $120,000-$150,000/year
Bonus: Estimated 9-12% of salary, based on company performance
Overview:
We are looking for a Sr. Project Engineer for our Industrial Crane and Forklift Attachments, Rigging, and Related Equipment Product Line. As a project lead engineer, you will be responsible for an assigned project from conception to completion. You will ensure the key design deliverables are met for the program. Your focus will be on coordinating deliverables, maintaining the budget, measuring team performance against KPI's and providing weekly updates to the chief engineer and cross-functional team leadership.
Essential Job Functions:
- Establish the project plan and use it to manage project delivery.
- Working knowledge of bill-of-material management on both the drawings and within an ERP system.
- Own the project objectives and deliverables. Review and release projects for procurement.
- Effectively communicate with all machine system development groups to ensure project requirements and aid coordination of systems compatibility.
- Create and maintain budgets and forecast requirements with economic justifications linked to project activities.
- Manage a project to adhere to our Development Process
- Coordinate activities to meet program budgets and timing schedules.
- Develop & maintain program budgets to include labor, material, and outsourcing.
- Be focused on the full project life cycle and impact it has on other projects.
- Develop program requirements with the chief engineer to align with the platform requirements.
- Oversee the specifications & requirements for the project
- Work collaboratively with marketing, engineering, and customers to develop the machine requirements for a project that exceeds customers’ expectations.
- Work with technical engineering team managers to create project plans and budgets.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Able to work in a structured 3-D environment. 2-D design a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to drive projects to completion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- General knowledge of basic machine design and operation. Industry knowledge in machinery operation. Welding knowledge for fabrication requirements.
- Working knowledge of general computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Expert in MS Project or similar system
- Strong time and priority management with ability to manage a large number of activities.
- Ability to set clear objectives and deliverables.
- Ability to work with a cross-functional team and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, outside suppliers, and management.
- Ability to influence others, regardless of position power or organizational boundaries.
- Ability to hold others accountable.
Work Environment:
- This is primarily an office classification, and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments. Up to 10% domestic travel may be required.
Required Education & Experience:
- Accredited engineering degree with an emphasis in mechanical, industrial, structural, automotive, and/or electrical disciplines.
- 6+ years work experience in the aforementioned engineering discipline.
- 8+ years work experience with cross-functional team collaboration.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience working in an engineering capacity supporting product development with a particular focus on full machine delivery in the material handling, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or other heavy equipment industry
- PMP or CPAM-PMI Certification
