Job Description
The Senior Manager, Process Engineering provides leadership to develop and drive process and equipment improvement, utilizing manufacturing excellence principles. The position provides strategic leadership to process improvement projects, capital budget allocations, capital project management, equipment installations, and implementation of best practices, including implementation of new technology and automation across the manufacturing footprint. This position will support the systems, processes, and training related to these subjects. This position also directly supervises the process improvement duties of the site process engineers who work throughout the manufacturing footprint. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide support for all company facilities in terms of asset reliability & improvement, process improvement, cost reduction and manufacturing excellence tools
- Develop and maintain processes to drive business improvement. Ensure that project initiatives are completed in a timely fashion and to the best possible outcomes.
- Develop and supervise an effective team of site-based process engineers by providing specific, actionable expectations; Building consensus to achieve expected outcomes; Following up on assigned actions; providing feedback and/or advice to ensure the continuous development of the team members.
- Manage capital plans & budgets; lead or support implementation of major capital projects: Ensure capital projects are submitted according to the CAPEX process
- Seek out new technologies and collaborate with the wider company manufacturing and engineering teams to bring new and relevant technologies to the business for review.
- Monitor and report capital budget and financial results to management.
- Design, develop and implement systems to support manufacturing excellence processes and initiatives at all company manufacturing sites.
- Maintain highest standards in Preventative Maintenance and Safe Work Systems for Maintenance (especially LOTO)
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum of ten years in manufacturing industry environment
- Proven experience in Capital Project management.
- Strong manufacturing leadership skills with a demonstrated record of continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated safety leadership
Preferred:
- Business management qualification or experience managing large budgets
- Knowledge of metallic coated and painted coil processes
- Knowledge of steel or aluminum mill processes
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities
- Master’s degree in engineering or business-related studies
