Job Title: Procurement Buyer
Job Type: Contract - opportunity to convert to FTE
Location: Hybrid, 2 days onsite - Fountain Valley, CA
Compensation: $35-$40 per hour
Essential Functions:
- Lead negotiations on pricing and delivery terms for IT hardware, software, software maintenance, and professional services.
- Administer and manage the full Request for Proposal/Quote (RFX) process, from initial creation through final award.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on their ability to meet the company's quality, delivery, capacity, and cost requirements.
- Process and monitor purchase orders, ensuring timely communication of status to request originators.
- Conduct spend analysis on commodity purchases to optimize cost efficiency.
- Enter and manage purchase requisitions and contracts in the procurement system, ensuring all transactions comply with Purchasing Policies and Procedures.
- Oversee vendor management and risk management activities, ensuring supplier performance meets contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and the legal department to negotiate contract terms and conditions.
- Assist the Procurement Manager by managing workload assignments, handling incoming user and supplier requests, and providing guidance on procurement processes and procedures.
Scope Indicators:
Supervisory Responsibility: This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and support to junior staff members as needed.
Decision Making/Discretion: The Procurement Specialist will work on moderately complex problems requiring an analysis of various factors. They will exercise judgment within established guidelines and practices to recommend appropriate actions, building productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Results: The Procurement Specialist is expected to escalate issues when business needs extend beyond their scope of responsibility, ensuring timely resolution.
Strategy Development: The role generally receives general instructions for routine tasks and detailed guidance for new projects or assignments.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant procurement experience required.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in developing business requirements documentation, process flows, status reports, and presentations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications:
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management preferred (e.g., CPSM, CPM).
