- Provide architectural designs for hybrid environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security for transportation management systems.
- Document logical and physical designs in accordance with MassDOT policies, standards, and patterns.
- Participate in ongoing modernization of on-premises systems, focusing on effective data flow and system integration between transportation management and cloud-based services.
- Engage in design reviews, cloud roadmap discussions, and project planning with cross-functional teams.
- Assist in drafting technical requirements and ensure adherence to MassDOT's cloud governance and security policies.
- Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure optimized cloud environment configurations.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on product selection, integrations, and deployments, particularly in relation to IoT/ITS solutions.
- Stay informed about the latest trends in cloud, IoT, and ITS technologies to bring innovative ideas to MassDOT’s infrastructure.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Strong understanding of networking, cloud security, disaster recovery, and data management in hybrid cloud environments.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with transportation management technologies and protocols (e.g., ITS standards, transportation signal controllers).
- Experience in agile project environments, with the ability to diagram and present cloud architectures.
- Proficient in utilizing GitHub and GitHub Actions for code management, automation, and deployment processes.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment strategies using Terraform.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
