Job Summary
The PostgreSQL Database Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of PostgreSQL databases. This role requires a deep understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and security best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large-scale financial environment and possess strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Design and Implementation: Design and implement PostgreSQL databases to support various applications and services within the financial institute.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, including query optimization, indexing, and resource management.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive financial data, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry standards.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Database Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as updates, patches, and configuration changes to ensure database stability and performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of database systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, providing timely support to minimize downtime and impact on business operations.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL Database Engineer or similar role.
- Experience with Unix Command Lines
- Strong Communication skills
- Ability to work on a W2 without sponsorship; cannot work C2C or 1099
