This role involves providing essential administrative and legal support to attorneys, contributing to the firm's efficient operation. Key Responsibilities of the Legal Assistant:
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
- File legal documents with the appropriate courts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
- Maintain and organize case files, records, and legal documents, both electronic and physical.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel to obtain information or schedule appointments.
- Conduct basic legal research as needed to support case preparation.
- Assist with billing and time entry, as well as other clerical tasks to support the legal team.
Qualifications of the Legal Assistant:
- Associate's degree, Paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in a law firm setting.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and document management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with legal software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a busy environment.
