About the Quality Control Manager
The Quality Control Manager oversees and executes daily quality control duties on specific projects to ensure they meet established standards. This role involves direct supervision and review of all documentation and physical inspections throughout the workflow. Collaboration with internal personnel (e.g., Project Managers, Superintendents) and external partners is essential to produce and document a quality product. The Quality Control Manager understands the needs and requirements of contract documents and communication between W.M. Schlosser management, owners, and subcontractors. To maintain productivity, scheduling, and quality objectives free from conflicts of interest, the CQCM reports directly to upper management.
The Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) is tasked with carrying out all major quality control activities required for project construction and timely submission of written documentation as specified in project contracts:
Understanding specifications and drawing quality requirements, and communicating them to subcontractors.
Create, update, and maintain the project submittal log and other quality control reports.
Review project schedules to ensure timely submission and approval of submittals for material rollout.
Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with project specifications using direct review and team expertise.
Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent, including written minutes as per contract requirements.
Provide daily QC reports reinforcing construction activities that meet established standards, addressing non-conformances promptly.
Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to clarify care standards for each work phase, ensuring
checklist completion before concrete, steel, or similar work placement.
Document and verify received materials' compliance with approved submissions, proper handling, storage, and suitability for the project.
Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors and superintendents before new work phases, documenting discussions in daily QC and Preparatory Phase reports.
Maintain logs and documentation for all required code and independent inspections, correcting and re-inspecting non-conformances before covering up work.
Periodically inspect to confirm work aligns with contract documents and approved submissions.
Coordinate and document building systems testing and commissioning.
Document pre-punch lists, punch lists, and their completion.
Record final inspections, certificates of occupancy, and acceptance of completed work phases.
Update "as-built" drawings daily.
Compile and forward project closeout documents, including O&M manuals, as-builts, and warranties.
Halt work if necessary to resolve safety, quality, or logical workflow issues.
JOB DEMANDS:
Individuals must be able to reach, stoop, sit, walk, and stand for long periods. They should also lift and move items up to 20 lbs. A minimum of 40 hours per week is required, with the possibility of overtime, weekends, or night shifts based on project needs. Exposure to heavy machinery and extreme weather conditions may occur. Full face respirators might be necessary, along with the ability to climb ladders and enter confined spaces.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Degree in engineering or construction management and 5 years of direct experience, or 10 years of relevant experience.
At least 7-10 years of experience in the commercial or industrial construction industry.
Current CQM certification issued by USACE/NAVFAC.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND TRAINING (PROVIDED WHEN NECESSARY)
Strong knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical work.
Good understanding of project change administration and its impact on quality aspects.
Solid grasp of construction means and methods for new constructions or renovations of commercial/industrial facilities.
Proficient with construction industry software.
Knowledgeable of the latest quality control standards and procedures through continued education.
