The Role You’ll Play
The Strategic Packaging Estimator is an integral position amongst the Revenue Management Team of GWPG and a key position within the Northern California Division, which includes a strategic manufacturing facility located in Livermore. The facility has multiple machine centers capable of producing a variety of packaging products. This position will primarily focus on corrugated based products.
Working in conjunction with the Senior Strategic Packaging Estimator, this position will be responsible for implementing the comprehensive revenue management strategy, in support of critical pricing and margin enhancement initiatives. This will require working collaboratively with the executive and senior leadership teams, sales teams, manufacturing personnel, and other estimators within the group, to drive pricing initiatives within the company and ensure pricing execution.
This position will work from our Livermore, CA location and can work in a hybrid setting.
What You’ll Do
Estimating & Pricing Function:
- Building accurate and timely estimating specs, optimizing machine routings, based on order size and converting requirements. This will require gaining an understanding of machine limitations in each facility.
- Determine cost of producing products and provide quotes for customers based on Revenue Strategy pricing principles, which incorporate End Market, Product Type and Order Size
- Ensure quotes are processed in a timely manner, considering customer lead times and equitable return for the company.
- Consider Customer Segmentation profile in quoting priority, and allocation of time and resources.
- Consult with necessary resources, including suppliers, in order to formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Effectively communicate relevant details of quotes, including quote exceptions.
- Utilize quote metrics and contribute to the continuous improvement of the quoting process, including feedback on market pricing that can be utilized in refining pricing parameters.
- Work closely with the Senior Strategic Packaging Estimator to ensure all projects are completed in a timely manner and gain better insight into company directives.
Job Costing Analysis:
- Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team on improving accuracy of our routings and cost models.
- Collaborate with the Production Leaders on frequency and level of re-routings required and utilize feedback to supplement training and process improvement in spec building process.
- Work in conjunction with Senior Strategic Packaging Estimator and/or Finance Leaders in the analysis of job profitability by comparing actuals vs estimates.
- Performing ad hoc analysis as needed
Customer Segmentation & Analysis:
- Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team on driving customer, end market and product line pricing programs.
- Ensuring order size minimums, warehousing limitations, etc. are incorporated into the estimating guidelines.
- Participate in strategic customer evaluation meetings in providing guidance and feedback to the sales team
What You’ll Need
- Results-driven with demonstrated analytical and thinking skills, intellectual rigor and curiosity and problem-solving capability
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally
- Well-rounded understanding of the corrugated manufacturing process.
- Ability to gather, analyze and interpret facts, raise questions, and exercise sound judgment
- Highly self-motivated and takes ownership
- Ability to exercise a high-level of professionalism when working with the Senior Leadership Team, staff, projects, and proprietary information
Education, Work Experience, Personal Attributes
- High School graduate, AA/ BA degree desirable.
- Equivalent to 5 years of estimating experience.
- Paper-based converting company experience highly recommended.
- ERP system experience (Amtech, Web Center a plus)
- Basic knowledge of Corrugated packaging, related machine capabilities, design.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word.

If hired, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education. In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. The expected pay range at the time of hire is $27.40 to $38.46 per hour.
